Important Lessons I’ve Learned

  1. Pray, no matter what you believe, just pray.
  2. Take care of your parents.
  3. Do what you want. Don’t live your life for others, and make no apologies for your own happiness.
  4. Not everyone will like you and that’s okay!
  5. Surround yourself with good people and positive energy.
  6. Be kind. Simple as it sounds. Just be kind to everyone you encounter.
  7. Life doesn’t care about your plans. It’s okay to plan, but try not to feel defeated when life says “nah!”
  8. Learn to say NO. Know your physical and emotional limits. Advocate for yourself.
  9. Good credit is important. Good credit is important. No one tells you, but good credit is important!
  10. Don’t compare yourself to others.
  11. Work smarter, not harder.
  12. Failure is okay. The 4 failed businesses under my belt taught me the skills that lead me to my successful ones.
  13. Learn to use money wisely. Get a financial coach if you have to. Build for tomorrow, build for your retirement, and build for the generations coming after you.
  14. Read! Learn as much as you can.
  15. Don’t take everything personal. Seek and accept constructive criticism.
  16. In Friendships, be the kind of friend you want to befriend. Be authentic and expect authenticity. Someone who will talk about others to your face will talk about you behind your back.
  17. Travel, Travel, Travel as much as you can. And when you think you can’t, ask yourself why. Try to remove those obstacles.
  18. “When upset, don’t forget” – leave space for rationality.
  19. Keep your business to yourself; everyone is not happy for you.
  20. Take time self-care. Your wellbeing and sanity depend on it (and don’t feel bad about it when you do).
  21. Surround yourself with love! Find a small group of friends and create a support system.
  22. The time to go after your dreams is NOW (This blog has been a dream of mine for years, but I just finally started it this year).
  23. Follow up to 22: Stop worrying! Everything that is meant to be will be! Don’t dwell on what you didn’t get or when you will get something.
  24. Life is short! Love yourself. Don’t cry on your birthday. Appreciate the people in your life, and don’t let anger lead you to regret.
